Having a reader makes a big difference when you’re in the throes of drafting a long paper. Just knowing that someone is going to read your work, someone who will tell you when they expect to see it, and give you feedback after they do—this is absolutely essential to the writing process. Now, with another deadline looming ahead, the big one, I have to really get a move on. That six-month incubation period (rubbishing out ideas, taking tons of notes, forming a lot of false arguments) is over and I just have XXX days to go (gulp!). Here’s to the last lap.
